This year has brought about exciting new connections for Angelina Jolie.

However, a recent addition to Jolie's social circle has emerged as someone significant, with a source revealing that this individual holds a special place in her life.

The individual in question is Jason Schmidt, a 21-year-old Broadway performer who stars in the stage production of her original musical, "The Outsiders."

Besides engaging with Schmidt, who is younger than Jolie's son Maddox, the actress also introduced the talented young actor at her boutique, Atelier Jolie, in New York City at the beginning of the month.

The shop buzzed with excitement as Schmidt made a rare appearance, treating his friends to an intimate concert.

Jolie and her other son, Pax, were just a few of the guests in attendance on that memorable day.

Reportedly, Jolie and Schmidt share a tight connection, described as a "strong bond" by sources who spoke to the Daily Mail, despite it not being of romantic nature.

Those close to them observe how the actress values his passion and talent for the arts.

In "The Outsiders," Schmidt portrays Ponyboy's older brother, Sodapop Curtis. The production explores Ponyboy's interactions with competing gangs in 1960s Oklahoma, drawing on SE Hinton's 1967 novel.

For Schmidt, working with Jolie has been incredible. He's grateful for the chance to learn from her experience and guidance as he hones his craft.

He even said in an interview with Teen Vogue last month, "It's been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

"Hopefully, I'll get to be a part of continuously cool things. But for a musical to have a fan base like this and a reach like this, I do think it's very unique."

Hailing from Illinois, Schmidt first went into the world of theater at the age nine after being enthralled by a local community production that sparked his passion.

He fondly recalled stumbling upon a performance of Les Mis at the community theater, reminiscing how, despite his initial reluctance due to a love for basketball, he found himself drawn to the camaraderie and enjoyment that theater brought among friends.

From his transformative role as Marius in "Les Miserables" to his creative partnership with director Matt Silar, who soon became his guiding mentor, Schmidt's journey into the world of theater was ignited.

His path led him to Carnegie Mellon University, where he immersed himself in theater studies.

However, his passion for performance couldn't be contained, and Schmidt later decided to leave during his junior year. This choice eventually led to his memorable portrayal of Buddy Aldridge in the Paramount+ series "Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies," that was released in April 2023.

Schmidt also dedicated his attention to music, with his song "Growing Up" hitting the airwaves just recently.
