FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo Continue to Compete for Best Player

Lionel Messi is one of the most revered soccer players in the entire world. This FC Barcelona/Argentinian captain's title for "greatest of all time" has only ever been challenged by Cristiano Ronaldo. In recent news, one site's penetrating analysis pointed out out how Messi has finally taken the lead over Cristiano. Also, not to help matters any, the world famous Brazilian soccer player Ronaldo was recently quoted as saying that Messi is indeed #1.

Messi got his start in soccer very young. At the age of five, Messi started playing for Grandoli, a local club coached by his father Jorge. 14 short years later, he was playing for the most respected clubs of all time, FC Barcelona.

Throughout his career he has received a very long list of accomplishments. Some of these include: FIFA World Player of the Year, UEFA Best Player in Europe Award and becoming Barcelona's all time top scorer.

Truly, those few things are only a glimpse into the Messi's Iceberg-like repertoire, and according to the Latin Post, Lionel's list is finally starting to outweigh Cristiano's:

"Ronaldo, who at one point was averaging close to two goals per game earlier this year, is not even averaging one per game in 2015. Obviously both trends were unsustainable because of what Ronaldo has done historically, but the superstar has looked increasingly frustrated with every passing game in the last few weeks. One has to wonder if injury has returned or if the pressure he feels from Messi back to his finest is also starting to make him lose his cool..."

It seemed to solidify the matter when another great soccer player, Brazil's Ronaldo, pitched in his thoughts. According to TMZ Sports, Cristiano Ronaldo never stood a chance:

"Brazil soccer legend Ronaldo -- considered one of the greatest players EVER ...weighed in on the great soccer debate Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo. The argument has been raging for years -- with people claiming each superstar has a valid claim to be called "The Greatest." In fact, some people have said they're the two best players of all time. So, when Ronaldo was leaving Madeo...[he stated that] he thought Messi deserved to be called #1."
