FC Barcelona Star Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior Failed to Break NFL Field Goal Record

The highly decorated and widely revered Brazilian native, Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, is one of the top soccer players in the world. His list of accomplishments seems to go on and on, and sources claim he acquired his skill at an early age. In recent news, Neymar made an attempt at breaking the world record for longest American football field goal, and he didn't fair well.

At 19 years of age, Neymar won the 2011 South American Footballer of the Year award. This was a relief, because the previous year he got very close, coming in third. Then in 2012, he, astonishingly, won it again.

His style and energy are revered by analysts, fans and fellow players. Many times, he has been compared to the legendary Brazil forward Pele. He currently represents two of the best teams on earth, Brazil's national team and Spain's infamous FC Barcelona.

It's rare that a prodigy of Neymar's stature comes around, but according to Biography, the Brazilian came into his own at an early age:

"Born on February 5, 1992, in São Paulo, Brazil, Neymar drew attention for his impressive soccer abilities at an early age. He emerged as a star for Santos FC as a teenager, winning four straight Player of the Year awards while becoming one of Brazil's most popular public figures. In May 2013, the gifted youngster announced his move to Europe to play for Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona."

Even with his respectable reputation, he kind of embarrassed himself at the recent StarClub Challenge. According to TMZ Sports, Neymar couldn't beat Matt Praters record:

"He's considered one of the BEST soccer players alive -- but how did Neymar fare when he attempted to kick a 64 yard field goal with an NFL football??? Not well. Neymar participated in something called the StarClub Challenge -- and tried to see if he could match (or break) the record for the longest NFL field goal...held by former Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater. To his credit, Neymar hit the 50 yarder...and nailed a 60 yard kick (using a soccer ball)"
