NFL's Jeremy Stevens Arrested for DUI: Wife and Olympian Hope Solo Close to Charges

Jeremy Stevens is known for being solid and reliable during his time in the NFL. However, he is better known for his relationship and marriage to women's soccer star Hope Solo. Recent reports are claiming that the former tight end was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Also, it is alleged that Solo was in the car when the arrest happened, and that her belligerence almost got her some charges as well.

Before the NFL, Stevens played college ball for the University of Washington. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2002 and stuck with them for five seasons.

All in all, he was widely liked by teammates. One season, he even made it to the Super Bowl. Still, he is not the most popular player to ever play the game.

He is better known for his beautiful wife, Olympian Hope Solo. In the past, the two haven't commonly been the subject of news updates. However, according to the Huffington Post, Alcohol tends to bring out the worst in people:

"Former National Football League tight end Jeremy Stevens, the husband of U.S. women's soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in the Los Angeles area, police said on Tuesday.

Stevens was pulled over by a Manhattan Beach police officer who saw him driving without headlights early on Monday and was arrested, police spokeswoman Stephanie Martin said in a statement.

Solo, who has played on U.S. Olympic gold medal-winning teams, was in the car with Stevens at the time..."

It's sad that some of the only publicity Stevens has ever had is now associated with being negative. However, Solo is known for her skill and accomplishments, and according to TMZ Sports, she was very close to tainting her name as well:

"Hope Solo was in the car with Stevens when he was pulled over for allegedly swerving on the road...Solo was 'acting belligerent' in the car...and pulled out her cell phone to record officers during the stop. One source says 'they were a major pain'...and cops were close to arresting Solo for disorderly conduct. We're told both Solo and Stevens were trying to play the dreaded, 'Don't you know who we are?' card."
