For the first time in years X-Files fans have a hard confirmation that Fox is looking to bring back the 90s TV show in the near future with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning to reprise their famous roles as Special Agents Mulder and Scully. According to the latest gossip news updates, David's rumored girlfriend and former co-star isn't 100 percent sold on the idea of ditching the movie format to return to the kind of long term commitment that making a series takes. Word also has it that despite the fact that they divorced in August and her ex-husband is reportedly now dating his coworker, Madam Secretary star, Téa Leoni, recently joined Duchovny and their kids for Christmas is paradise.
After being off the air for decades, word has it that The X-Files with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will finally be returning to Fox.
Not only is series creator Chris Carter talking about bringing the cult hit back to life, Deadline confirms that Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman is also interested in finding out what's out there:
"Gary Newman today confirmed chatter that the network is in talks for a new installment of Chris Carter's cult supernatural drama, which starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
"Later, fellow Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden said that the conversations so far have been only logistical, looking at windows when the key X-Files players, creator Carter and stars Duchovny and Anderson, are available."
Even though Gillian Anderson has often expressed interest in making another X-Files film, she reportedly told Entertainment Weekly that she didn't really know if she had time to commit to a traditional series at this stage in her life (via Daily Mail):
"I need to wrap my brain around what that would entail.
"I live in London.
"I've got three kids, it's not a small proposition and it would take a lot longer to shoot than a movie would...I need to think about that."
David Duchovny has yet to officially comment on the reboot news, but he never really seems able to end anything anyways.
According to Page Six, David isn't even able to walk away from his shared family vacays with Téa Leoni, despite the fact that he divorced the Madam Secretary actress months ago:
"David Duchovny and Téa Leoni may have finalized their divorce [last] year, but they were still spotted heading on a plane together with their kids bound for Turks and Caicos for the holidays."
How is it that all of a sudden David Duchovny has everything he ever wanted?
