As Showtime's Season 7 of Californication draws to a close, David Duchovny, who plays the series' lead, isn't reflecting on finality or preparing for his upcoming role in NBC's latest crime drama Aquarius--Dave is wondering what X-File's Scully to his Mulder, Gillian Anderson is doing on Twitter.
David Duchovny and Natascha McElhone only have a limited time left together on Showtime's Californication, after spending years pretending to be in love with one another for weeks at a time.
But Duchovny's heart isn't breaking at the thought of Natascha's absence, it's pining for his first true television series love, Gillian Anderson.
After just getting hipped to the new-fangled internets, David sent a tweet to his long lost X-Files muse, demanding to know, just when they started keeping things from one another:
"Hi @GillianA why did you keep twitter a secret from me all these years? I'm here and I heart Scully ;) What's up?"
Despite it being well past mid-night on the continent she was working in, Dana called back to Fox through the darkness of the social media ether, inside of fifteen minutes (via AccessHolywood):
"And I heart Mulder all the way from Belfast. @davidduchovny"
Ever the gentleman Mr. Duchovny complimented Anderson's artistic minimalism before signing off:
"Mulder is from Mars and Scully is from...Venus? Well doodled, G woman, well doodled indeed @GillianA"
Duchovny won't be spending much time twiddling his thumbs after the Californication series finale; David is heading right over NBC to start work on work on the 1960's based gritty crime drama Aquarius.
David told Variety that he feels like this show will be different than anything else on television:
"I'm thrilled to be working with Bob Greenblatt again and coming back to broadcast television. I think Aquarius has a chance to be a special show and I can't wait to get going."
Yeah...whatever. Now, when's that next X-Files film coming out?
