During his short time in the UFC, Jon Jones has earned himself a definitive page in the organization's history books. Reports are now suggesting that Jones' recent trip to rehab after an admitted cocaine problem only lasted for one day, and that the whole thing was simply damage control. Also, it seems that even if Jones is a drug user, he hasn't lost the support of his fellow fighters.
Throughout his career, Jones has won an astounding number of fights, and he has defended his title from some seriously scary opponents. Also, he has broken many records including being the youngest fighter to every hold a championship belt.
He currently reigns supreme as the UFC's #1 pound for pound fighter, and over the last few years, Jones has proved that he has the ability to remain at the top.
However, all of this might be changing soon, because fans have learned that Jones has a drug problem. Also, according to Yahoo Sports, he lacks the follow through to get better:
"There are a lot of things which can occur in one day. Being cured of a drug problem isn't one of them...but apparently UFC champion Jon Jones must be an exception. According to his mother, Jones' stay in a drug treatment center in New Mexico lasted all of one night. And that makes everything that went down last week after Jones tested positive for cocaine...nothing more than a publicity stunt and/or an effort at damage control."
For some, this news might have a negative affect on how they view Jones. However, according to TMZ Sports, Jones has not lost the respect of his fellow fighters:
"Don't write off Jon 'Bones' Jones just yet...so says UFC legend Chuck Liddell who [says] the light heavyweight champ is a 'good guy' who simply made a mistake. Jones checked in and then out of a rehab facility last week after testing positive for cocaine following UFC 182...but The Iceman says Jon will beat this problem like he beats everything else. 'He's gonna be fine, trust me,' Liddell said... 'He made a mistake. Give the guy a break.'"
