UFC Legend Joe Jones: Champion and Cocaine Addict? In Rehab After Defeating Cormier

Jon Jones is easily the most popular and most successful fighter in the UFC. He has shown fans time and time again that he has skill like no one else. He asserted his dominance once again in his most recent bout against the loud-mouthed Daniel Cormier. Yet, news has surfaced that might make some question Jones' success. Shockingly, it was revealed that Jon would be checking himself into a drug rehab for an addiction to cocaine.

When Jon defeat ed Shogun Rua at UFC 128 for the title of Lightweight Champion, there was no way of knowing that he would carry the belt for such a respectable amount of time. In fact, his matches never fail to be exciting, and his effectiveness never seems to waiver.

Also, in August of 2014, the UFC dubbed Jon #1 in official UFC pound-for-pound rankings. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest fighters the sport has ever seen.

However, there seemed to be an unheard of amount of hype going into UFC 182. In fact, according to Sporting News, to some it looked like Jones' time had finally come:

"Heading into Saturday's UFC 182 main event tilt between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, a lot of fans and media thought this would be Jones' toughest title defense...Some even thought that Cormier would take the title from the long reigning champion. Jones shut the naysayers up, controlling the former Olympian to win a unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) to defend his title for the eighth time."

Right after the victory, it seemed that Jon's reign would continue to drop jaws. However, according to TMZ Sports, this whole time, Jones might not have been succeeding all on his own:

"UFC light heavyweight champ Jon "Bones" Jones has checked himself into a drug treatment facility after testing positive for cocaine....Jones failed a drug test prior to his decisive victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 on Saturday."

Jones said, "I want to apologize to my fiancée, my children, as well as my mother, father, and brothers for the mistake that I made. I also want to apologize to the UFC, my coaches, my sponsors and equally important to my fans. I am taking this treatment program very seriously."

The site goes on to say that UFC president Dana White publicly announced that he supports Jones' decision, and that the drug use will not affect his UFC title.

Many questions have since been raised. Like, what does this mean for the champ's reputation? Does he really deserve to be called #1 if he was doped up this whole time? How long has he been on coke? Has it been his secret weapon from the start?
