Jay Z might be best known for being one of the greatest rappers to ever walk the planet, but he also has quite the reputation for being a die-hard sports fanatic. Recent reports caught Mr. Carter in Thailand, where he was seen snapping pics with knock-out artist Omar Z Tobasi. This isn't Jay Z's first run in with mixed martial arts either. The hip-hop mogul and UFC legend Anderson Silva even started a MMA-based web series in June of 2014.
Last year, Forbes estimated that Jay Z's fortune was estimated at around $520 million. This makes him one of the most financially stable recording artists in our nation. But make no mistake, his success has been no fluke.
His albums Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album are considered staples in hip-hop, R&B and rap. Rolling Stone featured all three in their top 500 Albums of All Time.
With such a well-established career, the rap legend has plenty of free time on his hands.
In turn, he has always been adamant about the New York Yankees and the NFL. Less well known is his attraction to the sport of mixed marital arts, however. According to TMZ Sports, Jay Z was recently seen snapping photos with Thai fighter and knout-artist, Omar Z Tobasi:
"[It's understandable] why Jay Z just HAD to take a pic with a fighter after a Muay Thai match this week ... the dude nearly decapitated a grown man with a ferocious spinning back elbow!!! Jay and Beyonce had date night at a Muay Thai fight in...Thailand and sat in the front row when...Omar Z Tobasi got in the ring...Tobasi busts a move straight outta "Street Fighter 2" ... and knocks the other dude into another dimension. Jay was so impressed; he went to the ring and snapped a pic with the champ."
Interestingly, this is not Jay Z's first dealing in the world of fighting. According to MMA Weekly, Jay and Anderson Silva joined together to start a fighter based web series:
"Media mogul Jay Z and legendary fighter Anderson Silva have come together to produce a new series for Jay Z's Life+Times web channel. The series, entitled STATIC, delves deeper into some of the most hotly contested rivalries in mixed martial arts, giving fans a much more thorough understanding of the friction between the fighters."
