David Robinson is considered to be one of the greatest basketball players to ever set foot on the court. One report revisits Robinson's contribution to the Spurs franchise and the sport in general. Also, in recent news, an interview with Robinson revealed that, not only is he a great ball player, he is a great dad also.
Robinson was still in the Navy when he was drafted in 1987. The San Antonio Spurs had to wait two years before they could even issue him a uniform.
However, the weight was well worth it. Robinson is a ten-time NBA All-Star, former NBA MVP, a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and a two-time Olympic Hall of Famer.
It is rare that such a player comes along, and according to Biography, he will not be forgotten any time soon:
"[David is] hailed as one of the game's great centers, Robinson led the Spurs to two NBA titles before retiring in 2003. Robinson was so good, in fact, that the downtrodden Spurs had chosen him knowing full well that the franchise would have to weather Robinson's two-year military contract commitment before he could make his NBA debut."
In recent news, Robinson was interviewed after his son's basketball team beat LSU. According to TMZ Sports, David is definitely a great dad:
"'The Admiral' is pleased...because his son's Notre Dame football team beat LSU Tuesday night... [and] his youngest boy just committed to play basketball to Duke! David Robinson...was clearly excited for his son Corey Robinson, a sophomore WR on the team. [Also,] Robinson tells another man about his youngest son Justin, who just committed to walk-on to the Duke basketball team."
David finished by saying, "It's going to be a long process for him and everything ... and I told him, I said, "You know what, don't ever get discouraged. There's no one like you in the world."
