Orlando Magic forward Glen Davis is known to have an offbeat personality. This is perfectly exemplified in his new single "Big Baby Gon' Turn It Up." The song, which is completely offbeat and out of tune itself, toes the line of ridiculous and terrible. One fellow athlete wasn't so thrilled with the work, however, as DeAndre Jordan called BS on Davis for making him spend $2 on the travesty.
Before the NBA, Davis played college ball for the LSU Tigers. In his sophomore year, the Southeastern Conference's coaches voted him the 2006 SEC Player of the Year, and he was also named to the All-SEC first team.
He earned his nickname, Big Baby, at the age of 9 by a youth league coach.
At 5'6", 160 pounds, he was too large to play little league, so he played as a senior. He used to cry when playing with his older teammates, and his coach would tell him, "Stop crying, you big baby."
Davis is well known on the Internet for a popular tongue-out gif, where he has been made to say and think many different things. Now, according to SB Nation, Davis has made a hit single, and it does everything but hit:
"Orlando Magic forward Glen 'Big Baby' Davis has released a song about...Glen 'Big Baby' Davis. Of course, staying on the beat and staying on tune are completely different things, and it appears that Davis needed a bit of help in the latter. The song features plenty of autotune as Davis declares 'Big Baby gon' turn it up' repeatedly."
Fans are not the only ones to find the "turn it up" jam to be a bit ludicrous. According to TMZ Sports, Magic teammate DeAndre Jordan let Davis have it:
"Wanna see DeAndre Jordan call out Glen 'Big Baby' Davis for making him spend $1.99 to buy a copy of his 2012 rap single? Good ... 'cause this is pretty hilarious. Jordan was leaving Warwick nightclub in L.A. this weekend -- when he actually called BS on his L.A. Clippers teammate for making him spend nearly TWO DOLLARS to own a copy of 'Big Baby Turn It Up.'"
Jordan finishes by saying, "It's a recession out here and I have to pay $1.99 for a song??"
