Former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson Supports Sony Pictures in North Korean Foreign Affairs Scandal

Sony Pictures is easily one of the most successful entertainment organizations to exist in the modern world. However, their recent movie, The Interview, has been canceled in the midst of a heated foreign affairs scandal involving Kim Jong-un. Now, reports are saying that ex-NBA great, Kenny Anderson, spoke about the situation after meeting the North Korean leader earlier this year.

Sony is a Japanese subsidiary based out of Culver City, California; it reportedly brought $8 billion in revenue during their last fiscal year.

The company operates more than 25 television channels and owns the popular movie streaming service Crackle. Currently, the multi-billion dollar organization has several blockbuster movies in, or coming to, theaters. Some of them include Fury, The Wedding Ringer and Annie.

Surprisingly, though, their soon-to-be released breakout comedy, The Interview, was cancelled after a dispute with North Korea. According to The Guardian, hackers crippled the release of the film by threatening its' fan base:

"Sony Pictures has cancelled the Christmas release of a film at the center of a hacking scandal after terrorist threats to cinemagoers and a decision by major movie theatre groups to cancel screenings in the US...A group calling itself Guardians of Peace (GOP) published an online message on Tuesday warning cinemagoers to stay away from screenings of "The Interview" starring Seth Rogen and James Franco...depicts the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un...A federal investigation is also under way."

Now, former NBA All-Star, Kenny Anderson, is speaking out on the issue. According to TMZ Sports, Anderson got first hand experience with Kim Jong-un:

"Former NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson says Sony Pictures absolutely did the right thing by pulling The Interview out of theaters...Kenny actually met Kim Jong-un when he went to North Korea in January as part of Dennis Rodman's goodwill team of ex-NBA players. [Kenny adds] 'I was trippin' when I saw the movie preview. Why would they want to ruffle their feathers? They already hate America.' Kenny says Kim Jong-un actually treated him very well while he was there -- but admits he was ignorant to the atrocities committed by Kim's regime ... until he got back stateside."

New reports are saying even the president has spoken out on this hot-button topic. Let us know what you think about this controversy in the comment section below.
