Nicholas Theodore Nemeth, also known by his ring name Dolph Ziggler, is currently the WWE Intercontinental Champion. However, fans and analysts are suggesting that the brute deserves more. His rising popularity and exciting, high-flying matches make Ziggler a perfect contender to take down the great Roman Reigns experiment.
Ziggler got his start in wrestling when he signed a development contract with WWE in 2004, and was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW).
In 2005, he was brought up to Raw as Kerwin White's sidekick. After that, he flip-flopped between Raw and multiple WWE subsidiaries.
He didn't earn a firm standing in the WWE until September 2008. Since then, Ziggler has won the United States Championship once and the Intercontinental Championship four times.
Even though those accomplishments are respectable, his fan base and some WWE analysts suggest that Ziggler has the makings of greatness. According to Bleacher Report, Ziggler has earned his popularity:
"Every once in a while, a push comes from out of nowhere and leads to a change in booking plans, thanks in large part to the reception it receives from the audience... Dolph Ziggler has broken out of WWE's crowded midcard to become a featured player on both Raw and SmackDown. At the annual November event, he was the sole survivor of the Team Cena vs. Team Authority match-the man as responsible for ousting Triple H and Stephanie McMahon from power as the debuting Sting."
It doesn't end there, Ziggler has some really great characteristics. According to Sports World News, things like Ziggler's energy makes him a top contender:
"The WWE is in need of a fresh babyface in the main event scene and former Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler is a perfect candidate to be the next top-guy in the company. There are a handful of guys on the WWE roster that can really pull out exciting matches in the squared circle night after night, and Ziggler is one of them."
