For the last three years, the San Francisco 49ers have been a force to be reckoned with in the NFC Western Division. This season has been up and down, but it looks like the 49ers are most likely out of the running for the playoffs. Moreover, there is a constant buzz that the team will soon say its farewell to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Before his time in the NFL, Harbaugh played college ball for the University of Michigan. Then he made his way into the NFL where he played for the Bears, the Colts and the Ravens. Now, as we all know, Jim has been making something out of himself and San Francisco as head coach.
However, with this season not looking as good as the previous three and other negative rumors swimming around, it looks like Harbaugh will not be around next season. Yahoo Sports points out that even though Harbaugh has had a successful few years, his time with the 49ers seems "rocky":
"Harbaugh went 36-11-1 his first three 49ers seasons, turning around a staggering franchise. The 49ers lost in overtime of the NFC championship game his first year, was [inches away] from winning the Super Bowl his second season, and a last-second interception sunk them in the NFC championship game last season...It's no secret that the Harbaugh-49ers relationship is rocky. There are daily rumors about where Harbaugh might be traded to, or if he'll go to Michigan. Whatever the outcome, his return to the 49ers seems like a long shot."
While some analysts look at the situation as rocky, others like The Boston Globe suggest a change is locked in:
"The divorce between Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers is viewed as a "lock," according to one industry source - the only issue is whether the 49ers try to trade Harbaugh (likely for mid-round draft picks) or if the sides just part ways (Harbaugh has offsets in his contract)."
What do you think? Is it time for Harbaugh to go? Or, are you sad to see him go? Let us know in the comment section below.
