Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III showed so much promise at the beginning of his football career. However, Griffin has made some arrogant decisions during his time in the NFL, especially when he reportedly turned down the advice of Donavan McNabb. Now, teammates are speaking out against the Griffin and his diva attitude.
Before his time as a professional, RGIII played college ball for the University of Baylor Bears. During his time there, he actually came away with the most prestigious award in college football, the Heisman Trophy.
In turn, the Washington Redskins drafted Griffin in 2012.
Unfortunately, things have rolled down hill for him since then. That same year, Griffin dislocated his ankle and many say he hasn't played the same since.
Also, the massive amounts of fame apparently went to the rookie's head. Apparently, Griffin rebuffed the invitation and advice of another successful quarterback, Donvan McNabb. NBC Sports reported on McNabb's response:
"'McNabb said it's unfortunate that Griffin can't appreciate the way an older quarterback might be able to assist him in his career.' McNabb reportedly said, 'I'm just trying to help him, but clearly the young generation thinks they have all the answers...And he's going through a little turmoil right now of trying to get out on the field. And it's unfortunate, but that's where we're at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers.'"
Now it looks like RGIII should have taken the advice more than ever.
According to TMZ Sports, Redskins' teammates are speaking out against Griffin and his ways:
"Robert Griffin III is a spoiled diva who cares more about branding himself than winning ... so says a Washington Redskins player who tells us he's not the only one in the locker room who feels this way. The player -- who spoke with us on the condition of anonymity -- says playing with RG3 has been a nightmare this season ... and the locker room has lost faith in the QB."
It's a shame, but it looks like this type of thing is happening more and more to promising college quarterbacks. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
