After loosing him to a suspension in 2010 and an ankle injury in 2012, Steelers' fans know what's at risk when their star quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, goes out of the game. So, Pittsburg fans can sleep easy knowing that Ben's most recent injury appears to be manageable.
Roethlisberger has spent some time away from the team in the past. In 2010 he was suspended for what the league called a violation of conduct, but the press later revealed as rape charges.
Then, after the scabs finally started to heal from that atrocity, Ben went down with an ankle injury that sidelined him yet again.
It goes without saying that terrible towels all around the stadium flew a little lower after "Big Ben" hurt his hand during the Saints game.
Now, reports are showing the Ben is back to practice after a day off, and it looks like everything is ok. Behind the Steel Curtain reported on the details of Roethlisberger's hand injury:
"Steelers fans haven't breathed since seeing Roethlisberger smack his hand off the shoulder pad of an incoming Saints defender. Roethlisberger winced, and appeared to be in considerable pain after it, a great throw to Antonio Brown to convert a third down conversion. Roethlisberger handed off on the team's next six plays with Roethlisberger using his opposite hand. He completed a short pass to Lance Moore down the right side and Roethlisberger didn't look comfortable with it."
So, all you fantasy football freaks and admirers of the boys in black in yellow will be pleased to know that, according to Fox Sports, it looks like Ben will pull through:
"Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returned to work on Thursday following an unexpected day off and will almost certainly play on Sunday in Cincinnati. Roethlisberger, who hit his right (throwing hand) on a New Orleans Saints player Sunday and skipped practice Wednesday... [but] 'was sharp' in team drills, according to Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Roethlisberger did not speak with reporters but his performances recently point to the wear and tear of a long season."
