Austin-based singer-songwriter Jesse Daniel released his upbeat new single and music video 'That's My Kind of Country' from his upcoming LP 'Countin' The Miles.' The album will be available on June 7 via Lightning Rod Records.
Daniel said the song was inspired by the catchphrase that his fans had been shouting at him for years: "Jesse Daniel plays my kind of country."
Daniel has started a headlining album release tour. He will support Charles Wesley Godwin on select dates this summer after supporting Blackberry Smoke in Houston earlier this month.
"For years, fans of my music have called it 'My Kind Of Country,' taking ownership of it and stating that it's all the things about country music they love rolled into one," he said.
"That phrase has stuck with me over the years. In a sea of other artists, all vying for a moment of attention, anybody with a cowboy hat seems to have a shot at it these days - 'country' or not. I am here to firmly state what I love about the genre that has changed my life and to highlight the fact that country music and country living go hand in hand. This is country music, as I know and love it."
The song follows the sharp duet of 'Tomorrow's Good Ol' Days' with Ben Haggard, the son of country music icon Merle Haggard.
Billboard commented on the song, saying that their weathered, craggy voices are a perfect foil for the storyline, in a throwback to other classic country compositions.
Meanwhile, 'Comin' Apart At The Seams' received praise from various sources, including Country Central, Whiskey Riff, No Depression, Brooklyn Vegan, and more.
Daniel's fourth studio album includes the appearance of Haggard, Jon Randall, the late Gene Elders of George Strait's Ace in the Hole Band (who sadly passed away soon after recording), and Daniel's partner, bandmate, and frequent co-writer Jodi Lyford.
Featuring all the characteristics of Daniel's signature Bakersfield sound, twanging guitar tones, crying pedal steel, and hard-hitting honky-tonk rhythms, the album also packs a gritty punk intensity and enduring wisdom that can only come after breaking the cycle of addiction.
