Austin-based Americana roots singer-songwriter Jesse Daniel, who Whiskey Riff described as "a modern honky tonk legend," has recently announced his new album: "Countin' The Miles," which will arrive June 7 through Lightning Rod Records.
To commemorate the upcoming record's announcement, Daniel shares its lead single: "Comin' Apart The Seams" featuring background vocals from Jon Randall and legendary fiddle work from Gene Elders of George Strait's famed Ace in the Hole Band.
Also arriving alongside the country artist's new song is an official black-and-white music video shot by Neighborhoods Apart Productions.
In addition, Daniel kicked off his "Countin' The Miles Spring Tour" last Thursday, April 4, in Phoenix and will also be passing through Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, and Nashville, among others, for the next two months. A full list of tour dates is available below.
About Jesse Daniel's 'Comin' Apart The Seams'
As per Daniel's statement in regards to the new single, the tune is about his "experience in life" and is an "autobiographical" approach to his and his brothers' story growing up in a rural mountain town somewhere on California's Central Coast.
"Coming from a broken home, there were a lot of hurdles for us, but I see now that those hard lessons we learned so young were actually a blessing," he said. "I wrote this one about the spirit of perseverance and the earned toughness that comes from an upbringing like we had."
"It's the realization that no one is coming to save you. That's on us to save ourselves," Daniel continued.
"Comin' Apart The Seams" is only one out of eleven "pure" country bops out of the forthcoming "Countin' The Miles" record, which was born from Daniel's lifelong endeavor to contribute monumental artistry to Americana roots music.
The singer-songwriter's fourth studio album also features guest performances from the likes of Ben Haggard, son of country legend Merle Haggard, alongside his life partner, bandmate, and frequent co-writer Jodi Lyford.
Appearances from a stacked lineup of A-list musicians will also grace the record, including pianist Ronnie Huckaby, bassist Kevin Smith, songwriter and producer Kevin Smith (member of Willie Nelson's Family Band), and Emmylou Harris guitarist and songwriter Jon Randall.
Recorded at Austin's Arlyn Studios in collaboration with Grammy-winning engineer Jacob Sciba, "Countin' The Miles" marks Daniel's first release with Lightning Rod Records and his inaugural sole-produced record, following the project he co-produced with the legendary Tommy Detamore.
