Clemson Tigers WR Commit Diondre Overton Discusses Clemson, Dez Bryant Comparison

The Clemson Tigers are happy to have wide receiver commit Diondre Overton in their 2016 recruiting class. He joined Evan Massey to discuss his Clemson commitment and a comparison to Dez Bryant along with much more.

Overton stands in at 6-foot-5 and is expected to be a very dangerous wide receiver for the Tigers. He has received major comparisons over the last few months as well. There are not many wide receivers ranked ahead of Overton in the recruiting class and landing with a school like Clemson is a perfect fit.

Last season as as senior in high school, Overton showed why there was so much hype surrounding him. He caught 78 passes for 1,251 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season.

Those numbers immediately brought more attention to his name and there is reason to be very excited about his future at Clemson.

All of that being said, let's dive in and hear from Overton himself. We hope that you enjoy this interview and will follow Overton moving forward as he makes his dream to play Division I football a reality.

First up on the list of questions was obviously what made Overton choose to play for the Tigers over all of the other schools that were interested in him.

"I chose the Clemson Tigers because of the family environment," Overton said. "My entire family loved it there. Also, because if the great coaching staff and how I would personally fit in the program."

Dabo Swinney is one of the best head coaches in college football and Overton talked about what Swinney has told him about his future role with the team.

"Coach swinney said he sees me as another Mike Williams. If I come in and out in the work I could possibly be a first round pick."

Those comments show just a bit about how high the expectations are for Overton. He also took the time to describe himself as a player for those who haven't seen much of him on-the-field.

"I would describe myself as an explosive playmaker who attacks the ball at every chance I get. Grateful for my abilities and talents hoping to take them to the next level."

Not only did he describe his game, he also talked about what he feels are his best attributes and what he feels needs the most work.

"I think I'm very good at making something out of nothing and adjusting to the ball," Overton said. "I can improve on getting faster, getting off the line and perfecting my route running."

There are a lot of things that Overton would like to accomplish in his career at Clemson. He was kind enough to share those goals with us.

"I plan to work my way up to be one of the top wide receivers in the nation and make my team better as a whole. Be able to make clutch plays and crucial catches. Hopefully Clemson will get me to the next level."

Perhaps the most intriguing thing came in his comparison. Overton stated that he felt he compared to Dez Bryant. That was the one name that came to mind when thinking about a comparison, which is an intriguing thing to think about and an exciting thought for Clemson fans.

Closing things up, he sent a short and sweet message to the Clemson fan base.

"I love Clemson and I feel like Clemson is the place for me, so I'm All In!"
