The Indiana Pacers lost to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night in yet another game that they likely should have won. Paul George expressed more frustration after the loss and it is obvious that he is getting annoyed with the way his team has played late in games.
Frank Vogel's team has been struggling all season long to win games in the fourth quarter. They have also struggled to maintain leads in the fourth quarter throughout the majority of the season. That is a major concern and if the face of the franchise isn't happy then there is something to keep an eye on.
Following the game, George let the media see his frustration, saying that this was yet another game that the Pacers should have won.
Needless to say, this is a serious issue that the Pacers have to figure out. Frustration has been mounting for awhile now and chemistry issues can occur when frustration hits a boiling point.
Throughout the course of the 2015-16 season with the Pacers, George has put up big all-around numbers. He has bounced back from a broken leg to be an Eastern Conference All-Star starter. Gerorge has averaged 23.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
George has also knocked down 41.0 percent of his shot attempts and has made 38.5 percent of his three-point attempts.
Those numbers speak for themselves and there is no doubt that George has worked his way to the superstar level. Even with all the doubt about whether he could come back at a superstar level from the injury that he suffered, he has come back stronger than ever. Indiana cannot afford to upset their franchise player and something should be done ahead of the trade deadline.
Larry Bird and the Pacers have put together a team that can contend in the Eastern Conference. They showed that fact in a close loss at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers and have played the Chicago Bulls very tough throughout the season as well.
Expect to see the Pacers consider a move at the deadline, but for now George and company have to figure things out among themselves and finish out these close games.
