Ryan Phillippe Invites Reese Witherspoon to Paulina Slagter Wedding?

While some Hollywood couples wind up becoming the bitterest of enemies once they split, word has it that Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon have remained quite cordial since their divorce in 2007. According to the latest gossip news updates, Ryan and Reese are so chummy that he has even invited his ex-wife to his wedding. It's said, however, that Phillippe's bride to be, Paulina Slagter, put the kibosh on that idea, because she didn't want to have to share the limelight on her big day.

It's not all that common for a man to invite his first wife to his second wedding, but Ryan Phillippe reportedly saw no harm in asking Reese Witherspoon to watch him marry his new fiancée, Paulina Slagter.

One source in the latest February 1, issue of OK! Magazine claims that despite Phillippe's best intentions, Slagter was less than thrilled with Witherspoon's getting an invite:

"He not only considers her a friend, but also a part of the family...[Paulina] has a great relationship with Reese but worries her presence would overshadow the big day.

"Reese wouldn't want Paulina to feel uncomfortable. She plans to skip the ceremony but wishes them the best."

Although Ryan and Reese might still be close, one shouldn't assume that he still has feelings for her, according to People's secret insider Phillippe couldn't be more in love with Paulina (via JustJared):

"Ryan feels Paulina is very intelligent and has opened his mind to equality and civil rights, areas he has never really focused on that intently.

"Being a student at Stanford law is impressive to him, and he is very proud of her. He feels that she has the ability to change the world and make it a better place.

"Ryan is madly in love and wants to spend the rest of his life with Paulina...And the feeling is mutual."

What do you think about Ryan Phillippe supposedly inviting Reese Witherspoon to his wedding?

Is that just a bit too hospitable for a soon to be married man?

Or, is it nice to see at least one Hollywood couple bending over backwards to treat each other with respect even after they've divorced?
