The Sacramento Kings knocked off the Indiana Pacers by a final score of 108-97. DeMarcus Cousins once again showed off his NBA All-Star talent in the win and is more deserving than ever of proper recognition.
Cousins has been improving each and every year that he has been in the league. He has developed into a superstar and is without question one of the top players in the NBA. While that is a fact, he simply hasn't been receiving the recognition of being one of the top players in the league and that has been driving him to continue working hard to improve.
Against the Pacers on Saturday night, Cousins ended up scoring 48 points to go along with 13 rebounds. He shot 17-29 from the field overall and knocked down 13 of his 20 free throw attempts. Those numbers show exactly why he deserves even more attention.
Heading into Saturday night's game, Cousins had been averaging 26.1 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.
Sacramento is the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoff race and there is no question that they have the talent to finally get in. George Karl has done an excellent job of coaching this group of players and getting Cousins back on his side. Things didn't look pretty when Karl was originally hired, but the two are now on the same page and it is working out very well for both of them.
At 25 years old, there is still plenty of potential for Cousins to continue working his way into. It will be very intriguing to see what ends up happening over the next few seasons.
There are not many players in the league that are as physically dominant as Cousins has been in his career. Standing in at 6-foot-11 and weighing 270 pounds, there simply aren't any players that can match his strength in the post. Add in the fact that he has added a three-point shot to his game and it makes it even more impossible to shut him down.
Expect to see Cousins continue his dominance throughout the rest of the season and help give the Kings a legitimate chance at the playoffs as the season comes down the stretch.
