OH NO! No more DiNozzo, Michael Weatherly to quit 'NCIS' After 13 seasons

It's official! After 13 seasons, Agent Gibbs is going to have to find someone else to slap on the back of the head. Michael Weatherly, who has portrayed Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo since NCIS' beginning won't be around after the current season is done for Agent Gibbs to give a hard time to anymore . Ironically it was Ducky, a.k.a David McCallum, who revealed the actor's departure in an interview in a British magazine.

CBS released, brought to us by EW Online, a statement confirming the depature. The statement read, "He is a valued part of the CBS family,and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as 'very' Special Agent Tony DINozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today... the No.1 drama in the world. We thank Michael for all his contributions to this sucessful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing developement deal''.

According to E, the actor was kept busy thanking everyone with tweets one of which read ''DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn't have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons.''.The actor credited cast, crew and NCIS's dedicated fans adding ''I will miss the amazing crew and cast,who are all like family to me & to fans all over the world - THANK YOU,its been a fantastic ride."

The actors departure will leave only Mark Harmon, Pauley Perette, and David McCallum left of the original main cast members. NCIS debuted in 2003 as a spinoff of JAG and will pass the 300 episode mark this season. The francise has been so sucessful it has spawned two spinoffs. NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans. The parent NCIS has been been the most popular drama in Ameica for the last five years, it has a huge international following.
