Disney Forces Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight' out of Theater for more 'Star Wars 7'?

Big-businesses are notorious for using any and all means to turn a profit, and it turns out fairytale creator Disney may be little different. According to Quentin Tarantino, The Hateful Eight is being forced out the Cinerama Dome in favor of more screen time for Star Wars 7.

It's no surprise that Quentin Tarantino is more than a bit angry. Or, to quote the filmmaker, "'It was real bad news and it f*cking p*ssed me off,' 'They are going out of their way to f*ck me,'and "It's vindictive, it's mean, and it's extortion.'" The filmmaker indicated that the Cinerama Dome's parent company, ArcLight, has been forced to remove the 70mm special version of The Hateful Eight from the early run starting December 24th in favor of showing Star Wars 7 through the holidays.

It is worth noticing, however, that "at this time neither Disney nor ArcLight have publicly confirmed or commented on Tarantino's allegations."

While I certainly hope Disney isn't using these strong-arm tactics to force out another film, I can certainly see the effectiveness from a business standpoint. I'd give very strong odds that the Cinerama Dome and ArcLight will make significantly more money off extra Star Wars 7 screen time than it would on The Hateful Eight.

If it is the case, it wouldn't be the first time Disney has been accused of being more than a little evil when it comes to profits. According to Screen Rant, "Some theaters in Germany refused to show Avengers: Age of Ultron over a financial dispute with Disney after company raised its fee for showing the movie from 47.7 percent to 53 percent of ticket sales."

Either way, it's certainly a disappointment for Tarantino and those in the Hollywood area wanting to watch The Hateful Eight in 70mm.

So what do you think? Is Disney going Dark-side or is this just about profitability for both ArcLight and Disney? Tell us what your thoughts are in the comments section below!
