Jimmy Fallon gathered the force of his house band, The Roots and most of the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to sing an Acapello mashup of our favorite Star Wars songs in recognition of the movie's forthcoming release --Just one more day, guys-- The performance was beautifully executed, and even included some of our original Star Wars heros like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, R2-D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca.
The acapella song was a mashup of the unforgettable "Emperial March" with a brief vocal rendition of the ever popular Cantina musicm, sandwiched between John William's "Main Title" Star Wars song. The entire charade was a blast, but there was nothing quite like Chewie's confused face as he looked around at his fellow singers during the Cantina song bit. Despite his confusion, the famous Wookie got in one or two unmistakable Growls at the end. R2-D2's bleeping was pretty great too, and C-3PO certainly looked to be enjoying himself.
Harrison Ford didn't show up until the very end of the song to deliver a few of his own 'boms', but Carrie Fisher arrived right on cue shortly after they started back up with the "Main Title" song. Having both actors show up was a huge surprise and made it all the more fun. Sadly, Mark Hamill never popped in which was a huge disappointment, but that's okay. He was probably off doing something important like saving the galaxy.
New Star Wars heroes and villains made their own appearances for The Force Awakens promotion including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. With a shift to the dark side, Kylo Ren portrayer Adam Driver and a snarling Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones also had their own parts to play in this little mashup. Amusingly, Christie is surrounded by members of The Roots band dressed as Storm Troopers when she first makes her first shows up.
