Han Solo actor Harrison Ford guest starred on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon earlier this week to promote Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. During his appearance on The Tonight Show, the aging actor proved he still has what it takes to amuse his audience. Jimmy Fallon proved that he is still able to put his foot in his mouth over and over again as well. Fans may never let Fallon live down the fact that he got Ford to drink a "Greedo Shot First". At least, this fan might not.
The interview starts with Ford pointing out the fact that he did not win the Academy Award despite the fact that the late night show host keeps bringing it up. Ford says, "Don't you get it? I didn't win." Fallon is quick to point out that no one hears the "nominated" part, "We don't care. We love you."
How true that is Mr. Ford. It is a travesty you did not win. It is an equal travesty that Jimmy allowed the ear you pierced for him to close up. He should have been wearing the ornate earring you painstakingly shoved through his ear on your last visit to The Tonight Show, but I digress.
The picture of the two with what appear to be ornate, red feather dusters hanging from their ears is priceless TV comedy, to the say the least. Daily Mail quotes Harrison's question of Jimmy, "What kind of guy allows an amateur to pierce his ear for no apparent reason?" Fallon had to add salt to Ford's already wounded ego by bringing up his nomination once more.
Fallon then paraded before Ford two Star Wars themed alcoholic beverages: a "Millennium Fallon" and a "Greedo Shot First".
Harrison seemed to be almost as confused as most of the audience was about why the first of the two drinks was called the Millennium Fallon. No one seemed to expect the host to go quite that far by using his own name in a Star Wars themed drink. It consisted of some unnamed liquid and large tubes of colored ice that were supposed to represent lightsabers, but as Harrison points out, looked more like lightdaggers.
The Greedo Shot First, which was a mix of Cognac, Creme de Menthe and ice, according to Entertainment Weekly, was the second shot Fallon introduced. Much to the Ford's surprise, it was a real alcoholic shot and he only drank after the crowd encouraged him to do so. It made me wonder if the audience caught the implication behind the shot's name. Allow me to shout for all fans, Han Shot First, Fallon!
