Bollywood Life is reporting that icon Shah Rukh Khan is very serious about bringing the hit American TV show Breaking Bad to the shores of India in the form of a movie, with SRK taking the role of Walter White. Imagine it, SRK doing an entire song and dance routine in a meth lab. Surreal, right? If anyone in Bollywoodland can do it and get away with such a risky topic, for Bollywood, at least, it is Shah Rukh Khan.
According to Bollywood Life, "Shah Rukh Khan revealed to a leading publication that he plans to bring the iconic and one of the highest rated television series of all time, Breaking Bad, to the Indian Shores. If he manages to do that, he will be following the footsteps of Anil Kapoor, who has brought in 24 as well as the desi remake of Modern Family to television. However, unlike Anil Kapoor's plans, Shah Rukh Khan will make remaking the series into a Hindi movie, and he might cast himself in it as the lead role." Nothing is official yet but it's looking as if Khan is moving forward with the idea.
From the Indian Express, "I want to make it into a movie. As a series, it is too evolved to come on Indian television. The Indian audience won't be accepting of meth, drugs and the mafia. But the story of a man who is going to die and takes a chance to save his family is a good premise for a feature film."
Meanwhile, SRK's Dilwale premieres in theaters this week. Trade analysts are keeping an eye on box office receipts because Deepika Padukone's newest film also drops on Friday as well. It will no doubt be a good weekend at the box office. Though, who comes out on top remains to be seen.
