'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' Breaks 'Bjarangi Bhaijaan' Records at Box Office, Salman Khan Hitmaker

Can Salman Khan do anything wrong at the box office? The answer is looking more and more like it is no. For those who thought it would be impossible for Khan to top his last effort, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, it didn't take him long to prove them wrong. Although critical view of the film is tepid, fans everywhere are showing up in droves, appreciating the hard work, and he does work hard, that Khan puts in.

Salman Khan's latest is a romantic comedy by the name of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. In its first three days of release according to BollywoodLife.com, "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's second day collections were said to be even more than the opening day collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Kick. And now that PRDP has crossed Rs 100 crore mark, Salman has become the only actor in India to have 9 Rs 100 crore plus movies."

According to NDTV, " Prem Ratan Dhan recorded the biggest opening day in the history of Bollywood as it closed day one with box office receipts in the region of RS 40 crore net, thereby defeating Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year, which was released on Diwali last year."

As well, Prem Ratan Dhan is the fifth Indian film to go over a 100 crore this year as well. It is an encouraging sign of the continued strength of not judy Bollywood but Indian cinema as a whole. Of course, this is all leading up to the release of Khan's much anticipated movie Sultan. Expectations for it are through the roof already and, with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's early strong showing, the expectations will only get higher. The film is not only performing well in India but internationally as well.

To put Salman Khan's popularity in perspective, Tom Cruise has 5.1 milion Twitter followers. Salman Khan has 14.7 million.
