Jessica Simpson Wants New Reality TV Show?

It has been a decade since Jessica Simpson won America's heart in her reality series with her husband, Nick Lachey, and Daisy Duke reportedly wants to be let back into the spotlight. According to the latest gossip news updates, the former sex-symbol is looking to land a new scripted TV show, that will closely mimic her family life with new husband, Eric Johnson, and all their misadventures. It's be said that Simpson is even taking acting lessons to make sure that the show will be a success.

Now that she has her body and confidence back on point, Jessica Simpson is reportedly looking to restart her TV career, with a semi-reality show based her life with Eric Johnson and their kids.

One source in the latest December 21, issue of Star magazine claims that unlike her original show with Nick Lachey, Simpson wants the new series to be scripted, while still very much resembling her actual home life:

"Jess is itching to return to TV and do a sitcom based on her life...She wants to portray herself, basically: a working mom married to a stay-at-home dad.

"She called and met with a bunch of film producers, but nobody has made her any offers. She won't stop until she's landed a TV deal."

The secret insider that OK! Magazine spoke to echoed much of the same, although they claimed that Jess wanted to make it was truly a family affair by making Johnson a full-fledged producer:

"She'll put him to work and keep tabs on him at the same time."

Although it's true that Simpson hasn't done much acting lately, there was a time when she was even considered to be a viable lead for a major motion picture, like Coyote Ugly.

During a recent interview celebrating the movie's 15th anniversary, director David McNally admitted to the Hollywood Reporter that Simpson was being looked at as a serious "contender" for the lead role, before Piper Perabo showed up to steal the show:

"We did our due diligence and saw everybody.

"Toward the end of the process, Piper walked in. She was actually from New Jersey and seemed to get it...that was the end of that."

What do you think of Jessica Simpson returning to cable?

Would it be best if she just stuck to managing her billion-dollar fashion line for the time being?
