Although Jessica Simpson's seemingly drunken behavior has seemingly done little to hurt the sales of her fashion line, word has it Daisy Duke's management team are doing their best to stall her latest album. According to the latest gossip news, both Simpson's parents, Joe and Tina, think a failed return to pop stardom would be absolutely detrimental to the sex-symbols career as a whole. Of course, it seems unlikely that Jess' mom and dad would really be able to stop a new record from coming out, after Eric Johnson's baby mama supposedly threatened to fire the pair if they continued to push for rehab.
Although it's been almost five years since Jessica Simpson released her last album, Happy Christmas, the 35-year-old mother of two is said to be deadset on getting back in the studio.
According to OK! Magazine insider, Jessica has already started putting out some feelers in the music industry to see if she can't get the ball rolling sooner rather than later:
"She's sent multiple emails to her old record label and has even been approached to do a Vegas residency."
One source in the latest November 2, issue of Life & Style claims that for all her excitement, Simpson's parents fear that Jessica's just opening herself up to further embarrassment following her calamitous appearance on the HSN last month:
"Her parents are advising against her comeback...doing everything they can to stop her before she makes another huge mistake. Another mistake by Jessica could be disastrous."
Despite Joe and Tina doing their best to put the kibosh on the project, L&S' informant reveals that Jessica has already decided to go ahead with her comeback album:
"She's been pushing to do a comeback album for a while now.
"She's been lashing out at everyone and saying they are teaming up against her...She's set on making it happen."
It sounds as though, Joe and Tina may have completely lost control over their daughter following their fallout over her September 17, appearance on HSN.
A family friend told In Touch that Jess eventually told her parents that if they continued to talk about her needing to go to rehab for her drinking, they'd soon be out of a job:
"She told Joe and Tina that they can shut up or get off her payroll,"
"She's pissed that they made such a big deal about her HSN appearance, and now they're barely speaking."
