'Star Wars' 7 Spoilers: Will There Be a End Credits Scene in 'The Force Awakens'?

The end credits scene has become a staple in Hollywood as of late amongst any film that thinks (or knows) that it will be getting a sequel. The big question on everyone's mind going into the Christmas season is whether Star Wars: The Force Awakens will come with a teaser for the next film in the saga.

This trend has become so popular in Hollywood, that most theaters will have 20-30 people waiting until after the credits finish rolling for pretty much every film that they are showing. Everybody wants that little bit of extra information. Marvel has been the king of the end credits scene, ushering this standard for all of their films. It didn't take long for other studios to begin to add their own scenes, hoping to capitalize on the same success that Marvel has had in establishing their own cinematic universes.

There is no telling how much longer films will continue to incorporate this tactic, but I don't see Marvel abandoning it anytime soon. The big difference is that they use it as a storytelling tool, whereas other studios are using it as a chance to add something extra for the fans. Both of these will work if done properly, but Marvel has definitely got the formula down.

There is one film that hits theaters in a little over two weeks that everyone would like to see an end credits scene tagged onto the end of, and that film would be Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well Star Wars fans, I hate to disappoint you, but according to Collider, at a press conference this past weekend J.J. Abrams confirmed that the film will not include a mid-credits scene or a post-credits scene.

There were interviews done with the cast and the crew, but there have not been any pre-screenings held. The word is that the film will not be screened until the world premiere is shown next Monday in Los Angeles.
