The St. Louis Rams are heading into NFL Week 13 action needing a big win to have any chance at staying in playoff contention. What are the five biggest rumors surrounding the team this week?
1. Why are the Rams Going Away from RB Todd Gurley?
Jeff Fisher and the Rams have gone away from star rookie running back Todd Gurley over the past couple of weeks. He has not been given the touches that he had been becoming used to in the previous few weeks. They have to figure out how to start utilizing him as a workhorse again to get back to being a dangerous offense.
2. Can Nick Foles Turn Things Around Amid Major Struggles?
Coming off of a dismal game last week, there are major question marks about quarterback Nick Foles. He has not looked anything like a starting caliber quarterback and Case Keenum even stole a start from him a couple weeks back. Whether Foles can turn things around or not is a huge question mark for the Rams looking into the future.
3. Is Jared Cook a Legitimate Long-Term Tight End Option?
When the Rams originally signed Jared Cook, the Rams thought he would be a huge option for their offense. That has not been the case, although there have been multiple flashes of big play potential from him. He has to step up throughout the remainder of the 2015 season in order to prove that he is a legitimate long-term option for them at the tight end position.
4. Can the Rams Come Through with a Win in Clutch Situations?
There is no denying the hot start that the Rams got off to this season and they deserve credit for that. That being said, they have to show that they can come through with wins in clutch situations. Fisher has his team on the right track to getting back into contention, but they still have to prove a few things including this point.
5. Will Wes Welker Finally Be Utilized More?
Since being signed, the Rams haven't used Wes Welker very much. He has caught just seven passes for 57 yards on the season. There are questions beginning to rise about when they are going to put him on the field for more action, which could happen this week against the Cardinals' strong defensive secondary.
