There is no doubt about it. If you haven’t seen Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil than you are missing out on one of the best comic book TV shows of all time. Earlier in the year it was announced that Jon Bernthal, who is best known as Shane from The Walking Dead, had been cast as the Punisher, Frank Castle for the second season of Daredevil. Now, it is looking like we might be getting a Punisher spin-off series. Recently, Marvel's Joe Quesada opened up about the possibility.
Earlier in the year, Marvel Studio’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, spoke about Jon Bernthal’s casting in press statement found on Marvel.com, reading:
“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences. Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”
Recently, Marvel's Joe Quesada spoke to IGN about the idea of a Punisher spin-off with Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (via Comic Book Movie):
"We'd love to do something with [the character] but it's way too early to tell. We don't like to discuss which metrics we use to decide [which character gets a spinoff]. What I can tell you is that anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal's take on Frank Castle. It's one of those cases where it's the character from the pages, come to life."
