'Mythbusters' Season 14 Rumors: 'Mythbusters' Ending? Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman Response

I remember Mythbusters from back when I was a kid, and when I heard about Mythbusters ending in season 14, I was sad. Here are Adam Savage's and Jamie Hyneman's responses to the rumors.

The show has had lower ratings over the last couple of years, low enough to require the release of the M7 build team. The network stated, "'After 248 episodes, 2,950 experiments, 1,050 myths, and 900 explosions, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will say goodbye to the series this winter.'" It's been a great run, and the show has not only been fun and entertaining, viewers have learned interesting things and even been inspired to pursue science as a career.

And it will be good for the stars of Mythbusters as well. They'll have more opportunities to pursue the things they prefer. Of the two, Hyneman is by far the more stereotypical scientist, one who would much rather be in the workshop building stuff rather than create a narrative and explain each step for those of us less technically skilled. As he put it in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, "I like the building and engineering so much, and if I'm doing something in front of the camera, it takes 5-10 times as long as if I was just making it. For somebody who truly is interested in design and engineering, it's frustrating. I'm like a race horse attached to a freight wagon." Hopefully he'll be able to get back to doing the things he loves most. I suspect working for the Office of Naval Research will be nice for him.

And Savage plans on getting back into TV, which makes sense. He loves the screen, and the screen loves him. "I'm definitely going to do more television, behind and in front of the camera. I love producing this show and figuring out how to structure the episodes. I'm going to jump into the website Tested.com." It should be interesting to see where both these gentlemen end up in the next few year, but I know I'm grateful for the show and the dedication they showed producing it.

So what are your thoughts on the end of Mythbusters? Was it time for the show to end, or did it still have life left in it?
