Although they have made it clear time and time again that they have no interest in having children, the supermarket tabloids are again claiming that Ellen DeGeneres wife, Portia de Rossi, is more than ready to ask for a divorce in the wake of the talk show host's unwillingness to adopt. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Scandal star wished to try something new after her latest round of IVF failed to result in a pregnancy. Word has it that the pair are in couples' therapy as they try to come to terms with their wanting such very different things out of their marriage.
On more than one occasion Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have made it painfully clear that they are in no way interested in having any kids of their own, but that has done little to stop the tabloids from often claiming otherwise.
One source in the latest November 15, issue of Life & Style magazine claims that Portia was devastated by the news that Ellen wasn't about to support her through another round of IVF treatments:
"Ellen said she realized she doesn't want to be a mom.
"It was utterly devastating news for Portia. She really hasn't recovered from it.
"Ellen can be very selfish at times...She wants things her way."
According to the informant, Portia and Ellen aren't ready to just walk away from their marriage, although they supposedly want such very different things in life:
"They're trying to work out their issues in couples therapy. They still love each other very much.
"Portia will see children playing or a bay in a strolled and get a sudden pang of emotion...It's definitely a heartbreak she carries."
Despite the gossip magazine doing their best to invent problems in Ellen and Portia's marriage, DeGeneres and de Rossi have made it clear that they don't want to take on responsibility that comes with kids and likely never will.
For her part, Ellen explained to People magazine that she and Portia still have plenty of passions they can bond over other than children -- like their shared love of architecture (via Realty Today):
"I think people were kind of really surprised, like 'Ellen's into design?!' But everyone who knows me and who is in my life has known that for a long time.
"Portia's into art deco more than I am, but she loves everything that we're doing."
What do you think about the tabloids constantly trying to make things up about Ellen and Portia's marriage?
Is it about time they found someone new to follow around Los Angeles?
Or, are magazines like Star and Life & Style simply writing the stories that people want to read -- true or not?
