‘Arrow’ ‘Constantine’ Crossover: Canceled Hellblazer Re-Pilot for New ‘Justice League Dark?'

Tonight is a pretty big fan for fans of Arrow and Constantine. The CW series has answered the call to save the canceled NBC show. Now, the chain smoking John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is making his way to Star City in order to help lend Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) a flaming hand. Could tonight’s episode really be a backdoor “re-pilot” for an all new Hellblazer or Justice League Dark series?

The official TV Guide description for tonight’s all new episode of Arrow, titled “Haunted,” reads:

“Things take a turn for the worse with Sara, so Oliver calls in a favor from an old friend, John Constantine, who deals in the mystical.”

Comicbookmovie.com is offering up an more detailed and official CW plot synopsis for the all new episode, which reads:

“MATT RYAN REPRISES HIS ROLE AS JOHN CONSTANTINE ON ARROW -- When things take a turn for the worse with Sara (guest star Caity Lotz), Oliver (Stephen Amell) calls in a favor from an old friend who deals in the mystical, John Constantine (guest star Matt Ryan). John Badham directed the episode written by Brian Ford Sullivan & Oscar Balderrama.”

Earlier in the year, Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently spoke to TV Insider about how Constantine will fit in to the Arrowverse:

"Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism. We were already swimming in those waters and that's why Constantine is this great organic little development."
