CMA: Brad Paisley Targets Blake Shelton Divorce, ‘Voice Coach Fights Host Over Ex-Wife Jokes?

Tonight is the 2015 CMA Awards, and host Brad Paisley is gunning for Blake Shelton. The Voice coach is a top target for jokes thinks to his high profile divorce from fellow country music star Miranda Lambert. Recently, both Shelton and Paisley opened up about the incoming jokes. Check the report below to see what Shelton has to say about his ex-wife and if it will lead to a feud with Paisley.

The official TV Guide description for the 49th Annual CMA Awards, reads:

“Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley host the 49th annual gala from Nashville. Performers include: Eric Church; Miranda Lambert; John Mellencamp; Kacey Musgraves; Maddie and Tae; Hank Williams Jr.; Keith Urban; Kelsea Ballerini; Thomas Rhett; Fall Out Boy.”

One of the biggest country music news events of the year, has been Blake Shelton’s divorce from Miranda Lambert. Recently, Shelton opened the door for divorce jokes when he told Seth Meyers about Paisley’s responsibility to make fun of him (via Taste of Country):

“Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn’t look down there and go ‘Ha ha!...We’ve had the conversations like, ‘Okay, dude. I’ll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.’ I know it’s coming.”

Paisley himself spoke up about the issue, tell ABC News (Via Taste of Country):

“I will say it’s very admirable that Blake went on Seth Myers and said, ‘Bring it!’ So we will. He and I have had a few little conversations here and there. He’s not someone who’s concerned at all quite honestly. It’s really refreshing.”
Still, he says it’s important not to go too far. It’s kind of an exercise in empathy, which I lack,.“It is an exercise in sort of putting yourself in that person’s position … and then you weigh the pros and cons of how funny it is versus how damaging it could be, and we never want to damage anybody’s reputation or make them feel awkward, but at the same time we don’t want to avoid things that are good humor.”

What do you think? How hard should Paisley be on Shelton? Should Brad take it easy on the Voice coach? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
