For years, the supermarket tabloids have been doing their best to convince folks that Matt Lauer's marriage to longtime wife, Annette Roque, is in serious trouble. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Today show co-host was recently seen flirting with a fan during an outing with his son, Jack. Regardless of whether Matt is getting along with Annette or not, Lauer told Ellen DeGeneres that she could never be friends with his wife, after the veteran comedian made a joke about Roque's taste in home décor.
Despite having very little in the way of actual proof that there is something amiss in Matt Lauer's marriage, the tabloids have long insisted that his relationship to Anette Roque is on the precipice of divorce.
Echoing the long repeated rumors about Lauer supposedly cheating on his wife is the National Enquirer's reputed insider's claims that Matt was clearly seen aggressively chatting up a much younger woman, while attending the October 22, New York Rangers game with his 14-year-old son, Jack:
"Matt appeared more interested with the beauty he was chatting up than the action on the ice!
"His wandering eye was in fine form. And while flirting with this woman, he even made a point to pull her in close so he could whisper sweet nothings in her ear. The guy is such a cad -- it's disgusting.
"He's humiliated his wife so badly...Maybe he'll give her a divorce for Christmas."
Of course, it seems a bit odd given how much attention Matt supposedly showered on this mystery woman, that E! News, who would love nothing more than to catch a celebrity cheating red-handed, didn't mention any sort of inappropriate behavior when they reported the father-son outing:
"Thursday night at the New York Rangers hockey game.
"The look-alike pair cheered the Rangers on to victory against the Arizona Coyotes 4-1. Matt, 57, and his mini-me wore casual cardigans, and based on those grins, they both had a great time at the game, too."
While it seem more than likely that Matt Lauer and Annette Roque are doing just fine, the Today show host recently joked that Ellen DeGeneres had blown any chance of having a relationship with his wife after she made a joke about not being a fan of her taste in home furnishings (via Today):
"Oh, that's nice -- she's watching. That really nice.
"She's not going to like you."
What do you think about Matt Lauer?
Do the tabloids keep focusing on his marriage because everyone knows that he is secretly up to no good?
Or, are the gossip magazines still just taking out their frustration over Katie Couric leaivng the show out on her old costar?
