For the first time in a long time it looks like Matt Lauer and the rest of his Today show co-hosts may be ready to once again overtake ABC's Good Morning America in the ratings on a regular basis. According to the latest gossip news updates, the NBC cast has beat their early morning rivals in viewership the last two weeks in a row. In a related story, fellow Today cast member Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford are said to be ruining the carpets over there at 30 Rock thanks to some disgusting new beauty secret that Regis Philben's sidekick recently read about on the internet.
After years of floundering in the ratings war with Good Morning America, it seems that NBC finally has figured out and fixed whatever was wrong with the Today show.
While Matt Lauer and crew have yet to completely reverse the tide, CNN Money points out that beating out the competition two straight weeks in May is a good sign that things might have finally turned around:
"In the key demographic for news advertisers, viewers ages 25 to 54, Today has beaten GMA for the past two weeks.
"This is significant because Today hasn't been No. 1 for two weeks in a row since the beginning of 2013.
"GMA is still No. 1 overall, both for the season to date and for the hotly contested 'sweeps' month of May...but the May ratings, which came out on Friday, show how the race has tightened."
Just as things were getting better for the show as a whole, the cast members are now supposedly having to deal with the entire set being covered in dead feet debris.
A source claiming to be in the know reveals in the June 8, issue of the National Enquirer that ever since Kathy Lee found out a way to get her feet feeling baby-butt smooth, all the ladies decided to jump on the better tootsies bandwagon:
"Kathy Lee just discovered a new foot treatment that makes your feet shed dead callus cells until your tootsies turn as soft as baby skin, so she immediately told her 'beauty secret' to every woman on the set -- producers, makeup artists, hairdressers, techs, production assistants, etc!
"The gals, including Hoda Kotb and Tamron Hall, all started scraping away -- and within days the halls of 30 Rock looked like whitish-grayish blizzard had hit."
Well...you can't be expect to climb to the top of the networks ratings with dry, nasty feet.
