Jarryd Hayne, one of the few stars of the 2015 NFL preseason, was shockingly cut by the San Francisco 49ers today. After rushing 25 times for 175 yards in four preseason games, the ex-rugby star made the 53-man roster, but ball-security issues appear to have cost him his first job in the league. However, he's still shown potential and will be picked up by someone, which begs the question, which five NFL teams might pick him up?
5. Tennessee Titans
The Titans don't really have one featured back and very much utilizes the by-committee approach. That said, they could use a bigger back like the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Hayne to balance their stable. Both Bishop Sankey and Antonio Andrews are only 5-foot-10, so adding a player like Hayne could be beneficial just to add another skill-set to their developing offense.
4. Buffalo Bills
It would surprise me if the Bills made a move for Hayne, but with the injury issues between top two backs -- LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams -- so far, they may be looking for some extra depth at the position. Obviously, McCoy and Williams are solid backs when healthy, but they are still trying for a wild-card spot and don't want the running game derailing the season.
3. Denver Broncos
In the mile-high city, the running game has been a work in progress through the first half of the season. At first, no one could run the football, no matter which back lined up back there. Lately, Ronnie Hillman has surged ahead as C.J. Anderson has continued to be a massive disappointment. If the Broncos are looking to get rid of Anderson's unproductive carries altogether, bringing in another talented back might be the right call here. If Hayne clears waivers, Denver may give him a call.
