For those of you who had the over on forever as the length of Olivier Martinez and Halle Berry's marriage, you were close, but fell a little short. The controversial couple announced today that they were separating and divorcing after only two years of marriage.
ABCNews is kind enough to provide us with the statement the couple released, "It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children's privacy as we go through this difficult period."
Berry, star of such movies as Swordfish, Monster's Ball, and the TV show, Extant, and Martinez, tough guy French actor who co-starred with Diane Lane and Richard Gere in the remake of the French film Unfaithful, were married in July of 2013 and had a child together in October of that year.
The beginning of Martinez and Berry's relationship started out really rocky. According to CNN, "The French actor was by Berry's side during her bitter custody battle with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, the Canadian model who fathered her 7-year-old daughter Nahla. Amid the contentiousness, Martinez and Aubry had a fistfight in Berry's Hollywood driveway."
Berry and Martinez met on the set of the 2012 movie, Dark Tide. This is Berry's third marriage. Previously, she had been married to former Atlanta Braves outfielder, David Justice. Berry then married singer Eric Benet. Rumors of infidelity and Benet checking himself into a sex addiction clinic broke that union. Berry would later have a daughter with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
