Word has it that Extant actress Halle Berry spent years budding up to R&B legend Aretha Franklin with the hopes of one day playing the "Respect" singer in a big-budget biopic, but now that that day has come it seems that Aretha has someone else in mind. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Monster Ball Oscar winner is furious at Jennifer Lopez' supposedly stealing the role right out from under her nose. Meanwhile, Lopez is also said to be getting clos e to ex-boyfriend, Ben Affleck, now that he's split form Jennifer Garner.
While Halle Berry is not known for her bad behavior, the Hollywood icon was said to have blown a head gasket when she heard that Aretha Franklin had decided to go in different direction when casting the leading role in her new biopic.
The inside source that the National Enquirer claims to have spoken to insists that Halle had been led to believe that the part was all but hers, but in the end Franklin pulled the rug right out from under her:
"When Halle heard Jennifer is on the inside track for the role, she called Aretha to read her the riot act.
"Aretha wouldn't take Halle's calls! She had someone reply, saying casting Jennifer is just a sound business decision.
"Halle feels duped. It's not her fault producers and Aretha dragged their feet for years!"
When the Enquirer finally caught up with Franklin, however, the legendary singer claimed that she and Halle were still just as close as they've always have been:
"Halle and I appreciate each other. She was just on the front row of my Los Angeles concert at the Microsoft Theater."
It would seem Berry isn't the only actress having to deal J Lo sticking her nose in where it's wasn't invited.
The behind the scenes insider that Hollywood Life spoke to, claimed the Jenner Garner had to deal with Ben Affleck texting back and forth with Lopez in the months leading up to their split:
"Ben and J Lo have been talking and texting since he split with Jennifer.
"She also really makes Ben laugh and was always super supportive."
