Despite still being in the middle of a bitter lawsuit with former management team, SM Entertainment, ex-EXO member Luhan is making a comeback to the land that made him a star. He will star in the Chinese made film The Witness. Sina Entertainment, the company producing the film, confirmed the release date through several state run media outlets. The film will screen simultaneously in South Korea, the US and China.
KPopStarz sets the scene, "The Witness is a Chinese adaptation of the popular Korean film, The Blind. Luhan, who previously starred in the 2014 Chinese remake of Miss Granny, portrays a street urchin who is the witness to a grisly murder. He is tasked with the responsibility of protecting a blind woman, who could hear the sounds related to the killing, but is unable to provide visual details regarding the crime."
The film, as mentioned previously, is a Chinese remake of director Ahn Sang Hoon's original Korean film. As well, Luhan provides the theme song for the film. He recently unveiled the music video at a press conference for the film.
Not quite a year after leaving EXO, Luhan's career seems to be kicking into high gear, in spite of the impending court actions by SM Entertainment. This from KPopStarz, "Since leaving SM Entertainment, Luhan has pursued a career as an actor and performer in China, and achieved multiple awards for being one of Asia's most popular idols."
What lies ahead remains to be seen. Since The Witness was a co-production with South Korea, all eyes will be on SM Entertainment to see what objections they may make toward Luhan and his "outside" work, seeing as though his contract with them has never been officially voided or nullified. Whatever the case is, you know there is more to be had from this story. Definitely, stay tuned.
