Former EXO member Luhan is set to release his debut album Reloaded September 14, according to a video teaser on Youtube. The video shows Luhan in a recording studio and September 14th flashes and then "Welcome to the future" text on the screen. What action his former record company, SM Entertainment might take to try to stop the release of the album, if any, is unknown at this point. Both Luhan and SM are still involved in lawsuits against each other.
The very high profile departures of Luhan and fellow band members Kris and Tao have been a major PR headache for the company. The accompanying lawsuits and the failure to reach an amicable resolution with any of its departing artists have been tabloid fodder ever since. Luhan has since become more defiant in his decision to leave the group.
K-Pop Starz is reporting that Luhan has enlisted international record producer Djemba Dejemba to help make the record. According to the biographical information provided on the Mad Descent production company website, "Djemba Djemba is music born from a state of permanent contradiction, held together by one underlying and adaptive principle: rhythm. Experimenting with polyrhythms, 90's FM synths, and the all-important 808 Kick, Djemba Djemba crafts a sound that is both intelligent as it is brain numbing."
KPopStarz hypothesized that the album with Djemba Djemba " ...could suggest groovy dance tracks from Luhan's solo album."
An interesting article on Kpopviral painted a fascinating counterpoint to consider. "The Korean entertainment industry is centered around music. Chinese celebrities start by training as singers in Korea. The Chinese entertainment industry, however, is centered around the movie industry. When Chinese celebrities who have trained in Korea return to China, they first wonder how to enter the movie industry. When Korean entertainment agencies aren't able to provide a way for them to enter the movie industry, the celebrity is left feeling unstable about his future."
