Mariah Carey Slammed for Hallmark Movie Behavior?

Apparently, James Packer's new girlfriend, Mariah Carey, is hard at work once again building up her reputation as Hollywood's biggest diva. According to the latest gossip news updates, Nick Cannon's ex-wife has been acting so poorly on the set of the new Hallmark Movie she is directing that it is driving the cast and crew crazy. Despite being known as much these days for her bad behind the scenes behavior as her hits, Mariah is still viewed as a tastemaker by many in the music industry. L.A. Reid even recently admitted that if not for Carey's recommendation, he would have likely never hired Jay Z to help him at Def Jam.

If you were thinking that at 46-year-old there was no way Mariah Carey would risk her directing debut with her same old over-the-top diva antics, its looks like you were mistaken.

One on the set source in the latest November 2, issue of In Touch reveals that production on Mariah's new Hallmark movie starring Lacey Chabert revolves around her non-stop napping:

"Our day revolves around her nap schedule...She's constantly napping and doesn't like to be broken up.

"That would be understandable if she were performing, but she's being driven to the set every day and not doing much [physical] activity."

According to the onset spy, Mariah is far more concerned with posting the perfect selfie than she is with lining up any shots for the film:

"It's a major distraction. She spends an hour smiling for the camera while the cast and crew are waiting.

"Finding the right lip gloss seems more important to Mariah than directing this film."

For all the hassle that sometimes seems to go along with working with Mariah, it can't be argued that she is one of the most talented singers of her generation.

In addition to her incredible vocal range, L.A. Reid recent admitted in an interview with Rap Radar Podcast that Mariah was the genius that suggested he hire Jay Z after taking over as CEO and chairman of The Island Def Jam Music Group back in 2004 (via VH1):

"Coming into the label [Def Jam] and really sort of reading the tea leaves, I knew that I needed help. You know, I got the advice from Mariah Carey. I asked her, 'What should I do?' She said, 'Hire Jigga!'"

"She said, 'You know there's only one person?' I was like 'Who?' She said, 'Jay Z.'"

What do you think about Mariah Carey's hard won reputation for being a difficult diva?

Is it perfectly acceptable to have to put up with someone breaking all the mores that hold modern society together when they are as talented as Mariah?

Or, is it about time that middle-aged Carey grew up and realized treating people like they are nothing does little to enhance her reputation in the long run?

Let us hear what you think about it in the comment field below.
