Former James Bond 007 actor Roger Moore recently commented about a pair of actors that he believes would fit the iconic role.
While nothing certain has been determined just yet, rumors abound regarding who will claim the role of James Bond once Daniel Craig moves on. Craig has been in three 007 movies so far, and his fourth will be coming out in just a few weeks. So what's causing the rumors to flare up, and what did Roger Moore say regarding Hugh Jackman and Damian Lewis.
First of, what is the root of the rumor? Recent comments by Craig have raised some fans' eyebrows and caused speculation over his future with the series. "I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists. . . . I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on." That's a bit drastic, I suppose. Of course, another golden comment from the disgruntled agent was that if he did do another Bond movie, "it would only be for the money." Comments like these indicate rather strongly that Daniel Craig's license to kill may be suspended in the near future.
On the other hand, Roger Moore, a former 007 actor, had a few things to say about the future of the series, specifically about potential Bonds. According to one source, Moore indicated to IB Times UK "either Hugh Jackman or Damian Lewis should step into the Aston Martin next."
And Hugh Jackman has actually expressed interest in the role. He turned down consideration for the Bond role previously as he was still in his Wolverine mode and didn't want to try and get into yet another iconic franchise. And who can blame him? He's done marvelous things as Wolverine.
Damian Lewis comes as a bit of a surprise, but his acting in Homeland has garnered him a fair bit of attention over the last couple of years.
Regardless of who is chosen, no doubt the next James Bond will like martinis (stirred, not shaken), fast cars, and beautiful women.
Tell us who you think the next 007 should be and why.
