Word has it that very soon both Daniel Craig's personal and professional life is going to look very different. According to the latest gossip news updates, 007 and his movie star wife, Rachel Weisz, are having difficulties connecting in the marriage and aren't sure if it just wouldn't make a lot more sense to just formally split at this point. Rumors that Craig is also planning to leave the James Bond franchise after Spectre is finished. Notable British bookies, William Hill, claim that the latest speculation has Damian Lewis tapped to play the next Bond, but the safe money is still on Idris Elba with the odds coming in at 5/2.
Despite keeping their personals lives as far away from the limelight as possible over the years, it's now being rumored that there are some serious issues in Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz' 5-year marriage.
One source claiming to have the inside story in the June 29, issue of Star magazine suggests that the hustle and bustle of Hollywood has caused the A-list Brits to slowly drift apart:
"They'd vowed to never let their work come between them, but that is exactly what has happened.
"Gone are the days of them texting and calling each other incessantly.
"They're virtual strangers these days...it's like they don't see the point anymore."
To make matters worse, Craig is said to be flirting up a storm with all the new Bond girls, and according to the informant, his relationship with one of the leading ladies has the rest of the cast and crew talking:
"He clearly gets carried away with the women that he works with, and he's taken a shine to one in particular.
"He's lavishing attention on her."
Of course, if it's his role as James Bond that is supposedly tearing Daniel and Rachel apart, it may not be an issue for much longer.
While there has been growing talk for months that Craig has no plans to renew his license to kill once Spectre has been finally finished, only recently has Homeland actor Damian Lewis' name been bandied about as a serious contender.
According to leading British bookmaking firm, William Hill, Clair Danes TV boyfriend recently shot up the ranks to be the actor most favored to eventually take over the franchise in the future, behind obvious frontrunner Idris Elba.
A spokesman for William Hill, Rupert Adams, told Variety that despite the odds looking very much against Lewis a few weeks ago at a paltry 25/1, for no discernable reason at all surge in rumors now has his odds are a very respectable 3/1 -- beating out more established actors like Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender at 4/1 and 7/1, respectively:
"This is an unprecedented gamble, as for no apparent reason we have seen bets of up to £200 ($312) on Damian Lewis being named as the next Bond.
"This could well be significant and might herald the end of Daniel Craig as the world's most famous spy."
Now, what are the odds on Craig's marriage to Weisz making it to the next Bond premiere?
