Spoiler Alert: Tonight, it's a tale of two Flashes on The CW. No, sadly we don’t get two new episodes of hit DC comics series The Flash, but the next best thing. We get two actually Flashes. That is right, Jay Freaking Garrak is making his way from earth 2 in a story right from the comics. Now, Jay Garrick actor, Teddy Sears is opening up about his run as the original Flash.
The official plot synopsis for this all new episode The Flash, titled “Flash of Two Worlds,” reads:
“Jay Garrick, a mysterious man from Earth-2, appears at S.T.A.R. Labs with a dire warning about an evil speedster named Zoom who is out to destroy the Flash. Barry and the team must decide if they can trust him, even as they face yet another powerful meta-human. Meanwhile, Joe deals with a determined officer named Patty Spivot who wants to join his meta-human task force.”
Recently, Teddy Sears opened up to Entertainment Weekly about joining The Flash as the first Flash, who is actually the second Flash on the show, or third Flash if you count The Reverse Flash, or forth if you count John Wesley Shipp, who in addition to playing Barry Allen’s father, also played the second Flash on the first TV series:
“My take on Jay is he’s a guy who’s been around. He’s been in some battles. He’s definitely world weary. Jay has seen his fair share of fights. He’s experienced his fair share of the best and worst of what it means to be a speedster -- all the good it can do, all the enemies that one can make. I think being a battle-tested guy, he has more of a handle on what it means to have these powers, whereas you have Barry very much still struggling with questions of identity and how close should he let someone into his heart? There’s a nice duality set up there.”
Be sure to tune into the all new episode of The Flash, tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern on The CW.
