Tonight The Flash returns for the premiere of the second season, and Barry Allen and the Star Labs team are not alone. Joining Team Flash is Earth 2’s Flash, Jay Garrick. We will also see a new villain speedster, Zoom. Speaking of villains, last year’s big bad, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh's) is back in the fold. Now the show’s boss is opening up about his return after his two season one deaths. Check the report below for spoilers about tonight’s new episode and Tom Cavanagh's return.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new Season 2 premiere episode of The Flash, titled "The Man Who Saved Central City,” reads:
“Season 2 begins with Barry deciding to protect Central City on his own. But when Atom Smasher attacks, Iris pleads with Barry to let his friends help protect the citizens. Meanwhile, Cisco helps Joe with his Meta Task Force.”
Over the summer, Flash and Arrow executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, spoke to ComicBookMovie.com about what is in store for Season 2:
"Part of the fun of The Flash is when you have people dabbling in sci-fi physics, they’re significantly altering the world. We established in the finale that the entire series of The Flash is, in itself, an alternate timeline that’s been skewed from the real one. Wells setting off the accelerator created all the metahumans, and the results of the singularity will also have long-term effects."
Flash executive producer, Gabrielle Stanton recently spoke to TVLine about Harrison Well’s return, stating:
"Harrison Wells will be back, but he's going to be a very different Harrison Wells than we've seen before.”
Stanton went on to tease just how we might see the dead Wells rise again:
“We’ve got other worlds. We’ve got other timelines. All I’m going to say is he’s from one of those places.”
