For months the supermarket tabloids have been claiming that Reese Witherspoon's marriage to Jim Toth is in serious trouble. According to the latest gossip news updates, their relationship is now at an all-time low following the Cruel Intentions star suddenly cancelling a vacation abroad to throw a birthday party for their 3-year-old son, Tennessee. Word has it that if Witherspoon doesn't do something soon to make it up to her husband, she might have to deal with another very public divorce. Regardless of whatever may or may not be going on between Reese and her husband, Witherspoon's relationship with Sarah Michelle Gellar is reportedly still going strong. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer beauty recently revealed that she and Reese hang out so often than even their children have become best friends.
After supposedly letting the stress of their marriage wreak havoc on their relationship for weeks, Reese Witherspoon and her husband, Jim Toth, had reportedly scheduled a romantic 10-day getaway to sunny Naples Italy to get their relationship back on track.
Things were all set, claims one source in the latest October 19, issue of Star magazine, when Reese suddenly decided that the time table was all wrong and backed of the vacation altogether:
"They really need to put some time aside to work on their relationship and Jim thought Italy would be where he and Reese could finally reconnect.
"[But] Reese freaked out when she realized out on their son's birthday, Tennessee was only turning 3, so he wouldn't remember much anyway...Jim even suggested celebrating the day before, but Reese refused and canceled the entire trip."
According to the informant, Jim has been absolutely crestfallen since Reese put the kibosh on their second honeymoon, and if Witherspoon doesn't do something to right the ship soon she may very well have another Hollywood divorce on her hands:
"They've been spending more and more time apart. Reese is good at putting on a smile and pretending everything is OK -- but the reality is, things are not good.
"Hopefully they'll reschedule their trip, pronto."
Even if things do wind up eventually going south with Toth, at least Reese will always have her Cruel Intentions besties in her corner.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed that she and Reese are still so close that it seems to have even rubbed off on their kids (via Us Weekly):
"Reese's son and my son are best friends."
Buffy explained that although their fans are sometimes shocked by how much they have all aged since their days together on the set of Cruel Intentions, the ladies see each other so often they barely noticed that they've changed at all:
"We all see each other, so you don't realize you're getting older.
"Then all of the sudden you're faced with the revival of your movie, with all these young kids in it, and we're like, 'Oh, we're old.' That's when it hits you."
